A boat is not a function room that floats. The staffing works differently, the venue conversation is with the operator rather than a licensee, and a few things that are trivial on land are not.
The first thing to understand is that the vessel operator makes the call, not you and not us. A charter vessel is the operator’s workplace and, if it is licensed, their licence. Some Sydney operators are entirely relaxed about adult entertainment on a private charter and some prohibit it outright in their terms. Ask before you pay a deposit, because a charter deposit is considerably harder to recover than a rescheduled host booking.
The second is that boats are physically harder to work. Decks move, stairs are steep, footing is variable and there is nowhere to step away to. We staff charters with hosts who have worked on the water before and we send them in footwear that suits a deck. It is a small thing that separates a booking that runs smoothly from one where somebody spends the afternoon holding a rail.
The third is timing. Charters run to a departure and a return, and those are fixed. Build the host booking around the vessel’s schedule with a margin either side, because a host arriving at the wharf as the lines are being cast off has missed the entire event.
How many hosts, and for how long
Headcount
Similar to a standing function, around one host per ten guests, though boats often need slightly more than the number suggests. Movement is slower on a vessel and there is usually only one route between the galley and the deck.
Timing
Match the charter, plus thirty minutes before departure for boarding and a margin at the end. Four-hour charters are the Sydney norm. Confirm the wharf, not just the suburb — Sydney has a lot of wharves and they are not close to each other.
Which tier suits it
Clothed
Always available and the right call for any charter where you have not confirmed the operator’s position, or where the vessel will be alongside other boats.
Lingerie
Common on private charters where the operator permits it. Confirm in writing before the deposit.
Topless
Only with the operator’s written approval, and worth thinking about visibility from other vessels and the shore. A harbour is a busier place than it looks from the deck.
Nude
Rarely appropriate on a charter and dependent entirely on the operator. We will be direct with you about whether a given charter suits it.
The venue conversation
The operator decides. Get their position on adult entertainment in writing before you commit to the charter, along with their rules on alcohol, music and guest numbers. Also confirm whether hosts count toward the vessel’s passenger limit, because on smaller boats they do.

Confirm the operator’s position on your tier before money moves. Charter deposits are hard to get back.
Getting the wharf wrong
Sydney has many wharves and they are genuinely far apart. Send the exact wharf, not the suburb.
Forgetting hosts may count as passengers
On a smaller vessel, three hosts is three fewer guests. Check the passenger limit before you finalise the guest list.
Ignoring the weather
A harbour charter in a southerly is a different event. Have a position on what happens if the operator reschedules, and tell us early — we can usually move with you.

Travel. Travel is included when the venue is within about 30 minutes of the host. Beyond that a travel fee may apply, and because hosts travel from their own suburb it varies by who is available on the night. We confirm any travel fee in writing with your quote, before you pay a deposit — it is never added afterwards.

- Only if the vessel operator approves it, and their answer varies widely between operators. The vessel is their workplace and, where licensed, their licence, so the decision is theirs. Get it in writing before you pay a charter deposit.

- On many vessels, yes. Check with the operator before finalising your guest list, particularly on smaller boats where two or three hosts is a meaningful share of capacity.
- What happens if the charter is cancelled for weather?
- Tell us as soon as the operator tells you. We can usually move a booking to the rescheduled date if we have reasonable notice.

- Whatever tier you have booked, in footwear that works on a moving deck. We staff charters with hosts who have worked on the water before, because a boat is harder to work than a function room.
